Apple has been producing subpar machines at unreasonable prices for years now. Windows had become a much more developer-friendly ecosystem lately (WSL is awesome) and Linux performance is unparalleled at a fraction of the cost. This also is something we only see on Docker for Mac.įor all these reasons, I'm leaning towards moving away from MacBooks for software development and other demanding workspaces.
Docker hyperkit memory leak how to#
I have tried to add heroku.yml file but Im not sure about the configuration or how to link it to my docker-compose.yml file.Would appreciate any help, or even suggestion for other free hosting platform. I, for instance, see huge spikes in I/O operations in a development environment (where you're probably mounting your project files into a container). Deploying a docker image with Heroku can be done under 3 min, but I have no luck with docker compose. It's something to look at of course, but there is probably more than 1 huge issue with Docker for Mac. It might well be, but 20+ years of experience maintaining servers also tells me is that high memory usage doesn't necessarily slow down your machine. it raises a memory alarm and blocks all connections that are. We see performance issues, look at our task manager, see high memory use and conclude that that's the issue. To install OpenCTI using Docker, you will need the docker-compose command, you can install. Even though docker-machine is the older approach to docker on Mac it still runs circles around Hyperkit at least for IO at the moment (when used with virtualbox for instance).
Docker hyperkit memory leak for mac#
A reproducible case if this is a bug, Dockerfiles FTW. Yeah to echo the previous posters the Hyperkit/xhyve vm that docker for Mac uses is way slow at least for IO if not other things. Is the problem new? Yes, when I upgraded to Mac OS Mojave.See for a detailed investigation on this. It is normal that all the memory has to be reserved up front before any containers are running, because of the way that virtualisation works in MacOS amework.
So I thought to give up on Docker Desktop and install Docker with Minikube and Hyperkit hypervisor.
